Top SNL Skits

Okay, so this is a change from my usual movie top 5, but after watching SNL on Saturday, with John Hamm (swoon) and laughing hysterically at the Ronnie and Clyde digital Short with Andy Sanberg and Rihanna I started thinking about some of my favorite SNL skits. This is such a debatable topic because so many people have views of when SNL was the best. If you ask my Parents it was best with the original cast, others my age might say it was when Chris Farley, Phil Hartman and Adam Sandler were on. I must admit, that I am totally in love with the current cast. Regardless of what your favorite cast was, I know you can all think of at least 2 or 3 of your all time favorite skits. So comment away. I couldn't narrow it down to just 5, so here are my top 20. Yup, I said 20. I chose skits based on the lasting effect they've had on me, either I continue to laugh hysterically when I think of it, or I continually quote it.

20: "Strategery" Who doesn't love Will Ferrell as George W. Bush. He made it so funny and never cracked up.
19: MacGruber: These skits that were 30 seconds right before a commercial got me every time.
18: Spartan Cheerleaders: Taco, Burrito, what's coming out of your speedo. Hilarious
17: Gap Girls: Chris Farley eating all those french fries and when David Spade and Adam Sandler as girls make fun of her/him, he yells "I'm hungry so back off" in a deep voice, gets me every time.
16: Deep Thoughts, by Jack Handy: I loved these affirmations. I really miss them, I wish they were still on. "I wish I had a dollar for every time I spent a dollar, because then, yahoo! I'd have all my money back." I dare you to not smile right now
15: Celebrity Jeopardy: Will Ferrell as Alex Tribeck classic.
14: Matt Foley Motivational Speaker: Chris Farley yelling that you don't want to "LIVE IN A VAN, DOWN BY THE RIVER" always followed up by him breaking a table by falling on it just cracks me up.
13: Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley auditioning to be Chippendale Dancers is classic. So funny. Those 2 are missed.
12: Weekend update: I love their take on the News, I'll be honest that's the only news I watch. I love the segments on them as well.
11: Speaking of Weekend update..... Justin Timberlake on Weekend update where he was explaining what he would have
done if he would have hosted SNL when he had to cancel was hilarious. He sang a song about it, and I gained a crush.
10: Tina Fey as Sarah Palin: She was so funny and of course looks exactly like her. When Amy Poeler did Hillary Clinton
and she did Sarah Palin, still ranks as one of the most watched clips. Also, when Sarah Palin actually came on, it made it that much better.
9: Low Cost Halloween Costume man: Really any of Adam Sandlers bits that he did on Weekend update are hilarious:
Cajun Man, Opera Man, The Hanukkah Song, were great, but I loved his Halloween Costume Ideas. "Put a clothes pin on your nose, Look
at me I'm Mr. Clothes Pin nose man, and I'm CRAZY, give me some candy" So funny. My friend Anais would do the best impression of it, I
would be in tears.
8: The Chris Farley Show: Lovable Chris Farley, nervously interviewing celebrities. "Hey Paul McCartney remember when if you played your record backwards it would say Paul is dead.......that was awesome......but you didn't really die right?.......Of course not...I'm
so stupid" So great
7: Buckwheat sings the hits: Eddie Murphey as Buckwheat singing songs, and them putting the closed captioning at the bottom of the screen so we could see really what he was saying, with the last song just a bunch of ????????? I love it. I will always sing
the song "Unce, tice, fee times a Mady"
6: Phillip, the Hyper-hypo: "One time, my mom's car ran out of gas. She gave me a snickers bar and a can of coke, I towed the car the whole way home....7 miles, when I got home, I was really tired" When I worked at Hardee's someone brought in a tape of that SNL recorded, and Jess and I would watch that skit repeatedly on breaks.
5: Lazy Sunday/Digital Shorts: I'm a lover of all of the digital shorts, but the first one I really remember, was Lazy Sunday, Where Andy Sanberg and Chris Parnell rapped Beastie Boys style about going to see The Chronicles of Narnia. (Mr. Pibb and Red Vines are Crazy Delicious)
4: Shy Ronnie/Ronnie and Clyde: This gets it's own listing because I had to immediately watch the Ronnie and Clyde digital short with Rihanna and Andy Sanberg about 5 times in a row. Yesterday, when I had a bad day, I even watched both of the shorts
online. "No one in the back can hear you....Shy Ronnie.... Use your words" I loved it.

3: Clam Chowder: The year was 1992, Rob Morrow was the host, and the very last skit, was him having dinner in a restaurant with 2 friends. As they were speaking he was always at least one conversation behind. They were speaking about clam chowder
at one point and then moved on, all of a sudden Rob Morrow yells "Clam Chowdaaaaa.....that's how they say it in New England, they say Clam Chowdaaaaa." Of course he looked like an idiot. My family quickly adopted the phrase "clam chowder" whenever we talk about something that is completely off subject. Still almost 19 years later we will still say, "Okay, this is a total clam chowder, but....." and we don't even miss a beat. Best inside joke ever!!!!
2: Chopping Broccoli: "My lady, she went down town, she bought some broccoli, she brought it ho-ome, she's chopping broccoli, chopping broccoli....." I'm sure you all know it and can sing along. Dana Carvey will forever be remembered for that. One of my clients said she went to see his stand up, and he sang the song. I was so jealous of her.
1: Cowbell: Christopher Walken telling the Blue Oyster Cult he has the Fever for more cowbell when they're recording "Don't Fear the Reaper" was classic. Even Funnier was Will Ferrell banging away on that cowbell, and the other people in the skit trying so hard not to laugh. I was in stitches.
